Not knowing quite what my surgery tomorrow will be like, we got to it today finishing off general Christmas decorating as well as our great little tree.
As you'll see from the first pictures, we had a pretty good snow storm last night.
We were actually lucky to have gotten up the mountain road as it was so slick. We had been down in Dover, NH getting last minute Christmas stuff, and stocking up on things to make for dinner during the next week or so while I recover from my surgery tomorrow.
It had started to snow down there early, large heavy snowflakes. The temperature was just hovering around that 32F degree mark, and the roads were all icing up as well as the snow was already a couple inches deep.
We just crept up the highway, and not sure that was better than when we came off onto Rt. 11 which already had a couple of inches down with slush under. Anyway: Regardless of how pretty it was, what a pain in the butt....
By late morning, temps had warmed just enough to melt the snow from the road remaining after the trucks had been through several times to plow. But you can still see lots of snow piled up.
It really wasn't a 'major' storm; just a major dangerous storm with one truck sliding off the road at the bottom of our little mountain, crashing through a fence, and ending up in a very icy river.
We're all stocked up with wood for the next week or so.
Sue putting the finishing touches on our stocking display for the kids.
After we got the lights on our little tree, Sue selected special ornaments of the kids to feature as not really much room for more. And that's fine: it's a lovely little tree that we will enjoy, particularly me as I'll probably be stretched out on the sofa there for a few days while all the stitches heal.
What a great idea Sue had to put the tree into an old metal can!
