Monday 12/02/24 Sue and I drove into Portsmouth to have dinner with our friends Charlie and Cindy Arlington.
It had been awhile since we had been able to get together with them (05/20/24 at Anatolia's Mediterranean Restaurant in Somersworth, NH). Sue had been enticed with reviews of Rooftop at the Envio as they were promoting their outside igloo dining experience. Just gotta do that!
It was so great to see them again. As I mentioned back in our May posting: I've know them since... well almost forever as not only is Charlie one of my 2nd Degree Black Belt karate disciples, but one of my oldest students from back in the early 1970s from the Rose School of Karate.
We drove into town early, and went out to the boat launch area on Pierce Island by Prescott Park so that Sue could get some pictures of the sunset, which was supposed to be great.
From there we drove over to the area where the restaurant was to parked. From there we took a short walk back into downtown so that Sue could go back to a spice shop on Congress Street. She wanted to stock up on a salmon rub she had got from there this summer, and wanted to see what else they might have.
That was a chilly walk from where we parked at the restaurant to the spice shop and then back. That wind coming off the river can be... well, brisk.
We had such a good time at the restaurant, and the igloo was really a neat experience. Have to do that again in the warm weather so that we can enjoy the views of the river from that great outside deck up on the 4th floor.
Sunset over Portsmouth's historical South End district.
This gull asked if he could come with us to dinner, but I had to explain thre was only room for 4 in the igloo....
Shot from the top of Vaughan Street.
We parked just down from here on the left across from the hotel where the restaurant was located in.
Sue got this shot of me with Charlie and Cindy.
A toast of love and warmth as we began dinner in the igloo.
Charlie and Cindy
I'm telling you... that igloo was sooooo neat!
