06/03/24: Dinner Out With Friends

Friday 06/03/24 Sue and I went exploring along the coast just south of Portsmouth, NH, and then met up with friends for an early dinner at BGs Boathouse over looking Sagamore Creek.

Our primary purpose for the trip along the coast was to go to the Fort Stark Historic Site. The fort is a former military installation and sits at the southeast corner of New Castle Island overlooking the Piscataqua River.

Sue was checking it out because she had been asked to photograph a wedding for a friend of hers there next Saturday. Not only was she looking for spots to organize her work, but also looking for possible undercover locations in the event of rain.

Because I'm still recovering from a grade 2 hip flexor muscle tear, I sat in the car while she went exploring. I did, however, walk over the sand berm to the small rocky beach with her as. She loves walking in the sand, and just could not pass up wiggling her toes in the sand. And - of course - she found a pretty little heart shaped rock that she stuffed into her camera bag before heading back along the beach to the fort.

From Fort Stark we drove the short distance to BG's Boathouse Restaurant to meet up with our friends Charlie and Cindy Arlington for an early dinner. BGs is a lovely, very casual place sitting right on Sagamore Creek. Because it was such a beautiful day, we sat outside on their covered porch, had some drinks, and enjoyed chatting while we ate.

It was a great early summer day for us all.

Fort Stark was built around 1890, and so you have to be really careful walking around.
