Our friends Steve and Cathy, who live on a mountain on the other side of town, invited us to have a wood stove cooked dinner Saturday night 01/28/23.
We hadn't gotten together in quite awhile, so it was great to be able to finally hook up. Even The Beau Dog got an invitation!
He was over come with excitement when we pulled into the driveway: he knew exactly where he was, and he wanted out of the car to see Cathy and Steve - actually more Cathy because she goes hiking the trails with him and Sue a lot, but Steve gets his excitement up as well.
Like me: he's fine with me, but if Sue is around: it's all about Sue because Sue feeds him....
Cathy has this great old cast iron cooking stove that we've had some really neat dishes she's cooked on. And tonight was right up there. We started off with a large platter of Charcuterie and cheeses.
Sue was still recovering from her stomach viral infection and so wasn't having wine. So that left it up to Steve and me to enjoy the bottle of 1000 Stories Red Zinfandel, which was ma-vou-loose as a complement to the wonderful meal.
Great event having such an extensive Charcuterie to preface dinner.
Nice spread!
Cathy working on the chicken that just came out of the wood stove oven for basting.
Dinner is served!
