09/02/22: Chuck's Labor Day Visit

We were all so excited that Chuck visited over Labor Day. He drove out on 09/01/22 and stayed until 09/06/22, and we hope he enjoyed his time here as we did having him.

Friday and Saturday 09/02/22 and 09/03/22
After getting in very early Friday morning 09/02/22 to Marissa's where he always stays, and catching some sleep, he came over and spent a relaxing afternoon with us. The weather was crisp at times, but nice enough that we could all sit out on the screen porch, have some coffee, and catch up with what's been going on.

The sun was so nice by late afternoon that we poured some wine, Sue grabbed she shrimp plate she had picked up from the store, and we all headed up to sit in the Adirondack chairs on the hill by the screen house. For dinner, I fixed up chicken in a mango curry sauce over rice that went really well with a bottle of Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin.

Sunday and Monday 09/04/22 and 09/05/22
Sunday was beautiful, and they all went out on the boat to picnic on one of the small islands off of Portsmouth.

It was a good thing they did that Sunday as it was rainy and very chilly Monday and wouldn't have been a good boating day.

Tuesday 09/06/22
He spent Tuesday with us, and then headed back out for Illinois very early Wednesday morning.

Since it was the last dinner with us, I fixed up a pork loin in a brown mustard, time, yellow onion, chicken broth, dry sherry, Worcestershire sauce and a few other spices mixed with kale and served over a bed of brown rice boiled in parsley infused water, with a side of asparagus sauteed in butter with sweet red pepper and mushrooms which had been sauteed in butter with spices and a splash of port wine that came out great for a parting meal.

We'll miss him for sure, but on the bright side, we'll be going out to visit him and Denise before long. We can hardly wait for that.
