Friday, after Sue had done some neat art craft project with her, we took her over to Pittsfield, NH check out the Suncook Valley Rotary Hot Air Balloon Rally, and Saturday they were off picking blueberries.
Friday was unbelievably hot and humid, and the walk from the parking area to the field left us all sweating. We found a nice place sit in the ball field's covered bleachers, but there was no air and it was 'sticky' just sitting there.
We had got there at 4:30 pm as the balloon launch was supposed to be at 5:30. Where we were sitting would give us a good view of the liftoff, and that's a good thing because none of us were interested in sitting on the grass in the sun along the rim of the field.
Because of the threat of bad weather, the balloon captains decided not to lift off at 5:30 but would have a meeting around 6:00 to decide what to do. So, Sue walked Mia over to the blow-up slides and other things to do across the field from the bleachers. When they came back, they were both in need of water for sure.
By 6:15, there was still no word on a lift off, so we decided to call it a day and go get a pizza. But everywhere we called had up to an hour wait! I called a local place here in town, and there's was 30 minutes. Great! We were 20 minutes away, and so had a nice ride back home, grabbed the pizza, and enjoyed a late dinner out on the screen porch.
Saturday morning, Sue took Mia blueberry picking. When they came back, each of them had an enormous plastic bag full of fully developed, beautifully blue berries. Mia's bag was for her mom, and Sue said she'd make a pie with hers. We've been eating blueberries for days, and they've teen sooooo good!

'FINALLY, Gramps! Some pizza!'

Mia is very intense about everything she does, and here she shows that focus.
