Sunday 07/11/21 proved to be another spectacularly nice Summer day, and a terrific backdrop for my on-the-fly Sunday Dinner Party For Two!
Sue had been out for the afternoon with a friend investigating a local day lily farm, and when she got back and calmed The Beau Dog down a little, we settled into some backgammon out on the screen porch.
For dinner I fixed seared scallops in a radish and dry sherry cream sauce with cilantro, parsley, basil, garlic and other neat stuff along with tarragon and butter steamed asparagus. The radishes, parsley, and basil were all from Sue's garden. Everything went so well paired with a nice bottle of chennin blanc.
We tried watching Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey as the movie of the night, but it just didn't appeal to us. We tried Emma which we didn't care for the version, so turned that off as well. By then it was too late for a movie, so we opted for a recorded hour episode of Pickers, and that was fun.
On the way food shopping early Sunday morning with a dense fog covering the valley.
All the rain we've had has been great for Sue's flowers all around the yard.
The little solar powered fountain has been spewing a geyser all day.
Flowers up by the rock wall gardens.
Dinner prep in full motion, but has created a huge mess. Er... that would be I created a huge mess....
But it was all worth it as the meal came out just super. Now, if I can just remember what I did we might be able to have it again sometime!
