Late Saturday afternoon 06/12/21, I met Marissa in Rochester, and scooped up Mia for a 2 day visit!
We had a great visit with her, even going up north to Sue's great niece's graduation family gathering.
Saturday morning I caught Sue in the middle of what I termed her "Rhubarb Rolls Mess" but which turned out to be really, really yummy!
After fixing the rhubarb rolls, Sue was outside and in the dirt having a ball.
Sue called me to come out to see our first day lily of the season blossoming!
I met Marissa in Rochester late Saturday afternoon to pick Mia up, and when we got to the house she wanted to jump in and help Sue make the naan bread pizzas we were having for dinner.
DONE! Let's get them onto the plates, gramps!
Yup, ate those up really quickly....
Sue and The Beau Dog took Mia on a Sunday morning hike over to the Meeting House trails. When I asked Mia about this picture, she came right back with the fact that this was the 'Town Pound' animal pen the settlers used to keep lost strays.
The town library created a 'story trail' where kids read story boards as they walked through the trails. Sue said Mia sounded out most of the words, and had a ball going from post to post.
After getting back from their hike just after 10:00 am, Sue took Mia out with her to cut some branches off the bushes up by the screen house.
After a light lunch, we loaded Mia into the car, and headed up to Tamworth to Sue's family gathering celebrating her great niece's graduation. Mia fit right in with all of the other young'uns that were there. Here she is in the hammock out back with some of her new friends.
Everyone enjoying the large feast of chicken grilled with 3 different sauces, hot dogs, 3 different kinds of salads, and all sorts of great food!
I got this quick shot of Sue and Katie in one of the few pauses in motion of the day.
Mia obviously had a good time. She was out about 10 minutes into the ride home!
But she perked up as soon as we got home, and enjoyed her favorite dinner of macaroni and cheese out on the screen porch.
Surprisingly, she not only had one plate, but asked for a second helping. It turned out she had been so busy playing at the party that she only had a little to eat.
We woke up to very chilly light rain Monday morning, and so Sue and Mia just took Beau down the road for his morning walk.
Because of the weather, Sue organized an afternoon craft project for Mia to work on out on the screen porch.
But then we had an early dinner, Sue got her a short bath, and then it was time for her to gather up all ther stuff so I could drive her home. Here she is saying good-by to The Beau Dog as we loaded her into the car just after 6:00 pm. It poured pretty hard most of the drive, but paused just long enough when we got to her house to get her and all of her stuff into the house. I got her to bed at 7:00 pm as she had a very early call for her first day of summer camp Tuesday morning. I watched a movie until about 9:00 pm when Marissa and Gary got back home after their weekend anniversary trip down to one of their favorite spots, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. On my drive back home, when I got to the rise in the mountain up the ridge road I had to slow down in many spots to 5 mph as the fog was so thick.
