Sue and I took Beau for an 04/04/21 Easter morning walk along the Mad River. Beautiful day, though chilly as temps had dropped into the upper 30s during the night.
When we got to the bridge, instead of coming back along the road, we hiked up along a winding trail to the top of the far ridge. On our 03/21/21 Spring Melt Walk Along Mad River we had just hiked up to the first ridge. This one is probably about half again as high, and spectacularly beautiful.
By the time we got back home, it was almost time for lunch! Nice walk with Beau. For dinner, Sue and I fixed a country glazed ham with Yukon Gold potatoes, and skillet cooked asparagus with what turned out to be a nice Gnarly Head Pinot Noir.
Our Easter bunny.
Mia's egg hunt collection!
Easter morning breakfast pancakes Sue made with einkorn flour, and 2 flavors of maple syrup: a Cinnamon Infused, and a Bourbon Aged. She bought them recently from the Meadow View Sugar House in Union, NH. We first visited Meadow View 03/18/13.
Chuck sent this image of himself as his Easter greeting.... I told him he should smile, and he replied that he was.
What a difference in Mad River from the last time we waked down there on our 03/21/21: Spring Melt Walk Along Mad River.
Sue posing by the entrance to the conservation area with her pine branch bunny ears.
I took this picture from the bridge overlooking the Mad River.
And Sue got this picture of me giving a 'bunny wave' with my fingers just after I took my picture above.
Sue spotted this little waterfall as we started up the trail toward the top of the ridge.
And saw these ice caked branches dangling from a tree bent over the water.
I took this from the highest point on the ridge looking east.
Another shot pointing just a little more north-east.
Sue snapped this picture of the snow still on top of Mt. Washington about 80 miles away.
Prep work for our ham dinner is done, now just getting the cooking part going.
What a wonderful way to begin Spring!
