We invited Sue's family down for a Memorial Day weekend cookout Saturday 05/26/18 to thank them all for all of the help each one of them has been with work around the house over the last few months. We've had trees cut and trimmed, major work done to the brook area, huge raking and clean up of overgrown areas, and just a ton of other things.
As we were walking around the yard, I asked Ethan if he had a mower - waving my arm in an arch over the over half foot of overgrown grass. The repair shop had picked up my mower that morning to fix the broken belt. After loading it onto his truck, he told me that he could tell that the motor was only firing on one cylinder, and there could be other issues. He told me not to expect to have the mower back anytime soon. That's why I thought I'd better check with Ethan about helping me out with the grass. Thankfully, he said he could come down in the morning and take care of it. Whew!
It was quite a day! Of the 15 of us, there were 5 little ones all over the place that kept us hopping! Everyone started arriving around 2:00 pm and by 4:00 pm it was time to get the grill going for its inaugural work for the season.
Sue and I had made up over 3 pounds of seasoned hamburger, over a dozen hot dogs, a salad of mixed greens, a great corn, plum tomato, onion, and cilantro salad, and a red bliss potato salad. And for desert, Sue had concocted a really different pineapple frosted cake that the kids gobbled down.
It was a wonderful, chaotic day!
