Fathers Day 06/18/17

Marissa invited Sue and I out on Gary's lobster boat for a Father's Day putt up the river, and lunch on the anchor.

We drove down to Gary's parents house in Dover as they always have enough water at the dock for the dingy to get out to the boat. Gary was already out on the boat getting things ready, so Marissa took us out in the dingy, and then went back into shore to get Colin and Mia.

Gary thought it would be a little rough if we went down river toward Portsmouth. Also, because it was such a beautiful day and Father's Day, there would be an extreme amount of boat traffic. Who needed to deal with all that when the upper river would be so peaceful.

He took us up to the Cocheco and Salmon Falls fork where he and Colin set the anchor. There was no one around, and I think the whole time we were anchored there only about 3 boats came through.

It wasn't long before Marissa and Gary's friend Steve and his parents motored up in their boat, and rafted up with us, quickly followed by Gary's mom and dad in their pontoon boat with Gary's sister Sarah. It was quite a river party we all had.

Such a great relaxing day anchored in the river sharing time and some great food. Marissa had fixed a chick pea and basil herbed dish, and had burgers marinated in spice rub, dogs, and all sorts of snacks. Sue had brought some potato salad that went so well with the burgers, I had to have seconds on that - well, along with just about everything else!

The weather held out all day and was just terrific! The sun was hot, but the breeze on the river kept the humidity down so we could all sit comfortably in the sun and chat.

We headed back to shore about 3:00pm, and were met back at the house as soon as we got out of the car with Beau's howls of joy to have us back, though he does go totally spastic until settling down after a few minutes levitated off the ground.
