Plumb Island Hike 11/11/10
I had Veteran's Day off so spent the morning clearing some of the clutter work that I had. Sue picked me up at 2:00pm and we drove down to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island, MA.
The surf was up and the waves were frothing ashore unbelievable. We had a nice walk along the beach with Sue busy doing her thing taking picutres.
After I stepped into a puddle up to my mid chins and sloshing around for awhile, we came back to my place for a quick bite to eat, and then watched the movie Wall Street.
Heavy surf pounded the shore; I could feel it's power in my legs as I walked across the marsh.
A view across the marsh.
On the other side of the far sand dune, you can just see the cresting waves rolling into the bay, throwing up a fine sea mist into the crisp air.
Only Sue could get a shot like this.
Late afternoon sun starting to set below the dunes. You can see how strong the wind is, though just starting to abate as the sun drops.
Duens throwing their shadow across the sand in the late afternoon setting sun.
Another shot of the setting sun through the eelgrass.
I hit the breaks as Sue jammed me to stop the car to get this perfect shot through the trees in the road we had just come down.
Is this a perfect shot or what....
The day slips away behind the horizon.
And Sue patiently waited for this shot. Just perfect.
And the last shot across the dunes to the crescent moon.
This is a shot of the surf on a 'typical day' that Sue sent to me so that I could see how really different and powerful the sea was on the day I was with her.
