When Sue and I went up for our first visit to Maine's Pemaquid region in July, the Sarah Meade we were going to go sailing on had engine trouble and didn't sail. So, I booked this weekend for us to try again for another weekend trip to Pemaquid, Maine.
All pictures were taken by Sue and her super camera. I just drive and order the wine....

08/20/10 - Friday
We left Dover around 3:00pm and knew enough to take the back way around Wiscasset, ME. It was an extra 30 minutes because we went too far up into Dresden, ME before turning off, but with the traffic report indicating a backup in Wiscasset, it was far less time.
We checked into the Sea Acres cottages around 6:00pm, and walked down to their dock to relax. What a difference without the fog this time! It was so peaceful and quiet; a very nice spot.
For dinner, I had made 7:30 reservations at The Damarascotta Grill in Damarascotta, ME and that turned out to be a really great meal.
Rounding the bend of Rt. 1 into Damarascotta, ME I whipped the car in a u-turn so Sue could get this late afternoon shot of the waterfront.
Sue titled this picture of The Damarascotta Grill as a 'Drive-by shooting' because I sorta-kinda hurried her to "Take the shot! Take-the-shot..." as I tried to slow down long enough for her to collect herself and her gear to set this up. I mean, come on.... how long does it take? I've got tourists riding my bumper here....
Here on the Sea Acres dock, Sue appears more composed than she was during the 'Drive-by shooting'. And that's a good thing!
Now, do I look wound up or anything? Hellllll, no! I just drove the vehicle and set the damn shot up during the 'Drive-by shooting' incident. Taking the picture is above my pay grade on this deal....
Quite a different shot than what Sue got the last time we were here in the fog - check it out in the next picture to compare...
Sue took this shot through the fog of a farm house across the river on our last trip up here.
Ever the artist, Sue saw this as a great shot as we were walking up the hill from the docks back to our cottage. What do you think?

08/21/10 - Saturday
We were up early Saturday morning for coffee pit stop at King Ro Market in Round Pond on the way up to Muscongus Harbor for our sail.
The weather couldn't have been better. And because of the cancel last time, Randy kept us out for an extra hour. It was just great. And, as we rounded the northen edge of Hog Island, Randy took us right past a Bald Eagle nest. Sue got some great shots despite the distance.
After getting off the Sarah Meade, we stopped off at the Round Pond Art Gallery to give Shelia the pictures Sue had taken last time. We had a wonderful chat with Shelia and then drove over to have lunch at The Contented Sole where we had eaten last time. But it was closed for a special wedding deal, so we stopped off at The Cupboard Cafe in New Harbor for lunch.
For dinner, we drove back over to Round Pond to the Anchor Inn Restaurant, where we had another great meal. Despite reservations at 8:00pm and finishing off after 10:00pm, we decided on the long road home and headed back along the eastern shore road all the way down to Pemaquid Lighthouse before winding our way back to Sea Acres.

Captain Randy of the Sarah Meade secures the lines after hoisting the jib as we moved out of Muscongus Harbor and into open water.
"And this is how it's done on a Friendship Sloop...."
What more can you say? Nuttin'....
Now, tell me again about how important that programming project is....
Picture by Sue; composition by Nature.
Under sail - literally!
Captain Randy at the helm.
Wanna-be at the helm....
Is this girl having fun, or what!
"Just another day at the office...." Captain Randy.
"I'm just not f'n going back, and that' all there is to it!"
Captain Randy going over the Sarah Meade's projected course on his cell phone's GPS.
Sue titled this picture: 'The guys gave Sue a headache'. I think it was due to all the technical jargon and sailor type stuff maybe? Then again, maybe she's just hungry?
A shot of the wreck of the Cora Cressy as we round the northern point of Hog Island.
Sue got this great shot of two American Bald Egales by their nest high in the trees as we sailed down the western shore of Hog.
On the dock at Muscongus Harbor.
A final wave from Captain Randy as he readies the Sarah Meade to head back into the bay. He had a wedding party to shuttle later that afternoon, so had some prelim work to do.
Sue set her camera up to take this shot of us for my brother Alan to show him how The Fine Art of Southern Porch Sitting can be done in the far north as well.
I'm set for dinner....
And Sue's set for dinner. So, off we go....
Round Pond Harbor, 8:00pm.
Down on the docks, but ready for dinner at The Anchor Inn.
A final shot of Round Pond Harbor before darkness settles across the water.
After dinner, I drove down Rt 32 to the point so Sue could catch some night shots of Pemaquid Lighthouse. Just spectacular....
And this final shot of the trip; just breath-taking....
08/22/10 - Sunday
Sunday we had a late morning breakfast at The Cupboard Cafe and then headed back to Dover. I dropped Sue off so she could get some stuff done before coming over at 4:30 to go food shopping for Sunday night's dinner party for two.
