The Great 2008 Ununemployed Backgammon Tournament And Poor Mans Pizza Party 01/19/08
The only thing to do when you come off the unemployed roles is to have a party! To celebrate my new job which I start on the 28th, I thought I’d throw a little backgammon party get together this Saturday.
It was a little short notice because I'm heading out next week to visit my brother Alan for a few days, and then Super Bowl is coming. So if I'm going to have a party, now's the time to do it!
The weather held up just fine; we had a pretty bad snow/sleet storm the other day. It's getting to be that time of year around here, so you just never know. Regardless, I had enough chips and dip and beer to hold me over if it was just me. I was all set.
Marissa and I started at 5:00pm; why wait? So we sat down and had a couple of quick games. But it wasn't long before a couple of more boards got going.
To keep it simple, I just ordered out for pizza from Kendall Pond. Colin and Adrienne had to go pick the order up, though, because they were all backed up on deliveries and said it would be an hour and a half delivery time but only 20 minutes for pick up.
We ended up the evening with the movie Cliffhanger. Great time once again!

Rick should pay attention here...
The dice slapping against the side of the rails pulled him back as Linda makes her move.
Colin was pretty quiet here; dice must not have been running for him as they usually do. I don't think he ever threw the cube either.
Marissa showing Linda pictures on her computer of her trip to Framingham. MA to see The Body exhibit.
Perhaps the only reason he's smiling here is that he didn't play me tonight?
Marissa harassing the players. Get your own game!
Marissa on my computer looking for a new car. It appears that she found one she likes...
Linda and Rick in yet another series.
Ah! The food has arrived! No time for that; let's get on with it! Where's my pizza cutter?
Much better: food! Just a momentary pause in the games...
And these two went back at it again after dinner! Come on, you guys! We've got the movie Cliffhanger to watch!
Courtney and Marissa heading out to a party they were going to. It was really great to have had so many show up on such short notice. It's always a good time.
