The Great 2006 St. Patricks Day Backgammon Tournament And Irish Feast 03/11/06

What better reason to have a get-together than to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! So, Saturday March 11th I held The Great 2006 St. Patricks Day Backgammon Tournament And Irish Feast!

Tim House and I toast with Killian's Irish Red — the beer of the day, of course — to the start of our first game. At least I have a green shirt on...

The doors were open at 4:00pm for pre-tournament bad talk and kibitzing of the chef during the optional — but wonderous — "Great Chopping of the Vegetables Passion". No charge for this event...

I fixed up an Irish feast of corned beef and cabbage and Killian’s Irish Red! For those who weren’t into this Irish food thing, I had planned to have a couple of pizzas to throw in the oven. Unfortunately, my unit died and so there was to be no pizza. Just as well because what's St. Patrick's Day if you don't eat corned beef and cabbage! No one missed the pizza anyway and we all devoured 5 pounds of corned beef! None left for snacks, that's for sure so must have been enjoyed by everyone.

Tim House supervises one of the games between David Shaw and Josh Todrin. Lots of bad talk going on here - all night actually... Josh looks happy here but it's not because of his position on the board. Note that he's got a large bowl of snacks in front of him.

Marissa and her unseen friend Ashley arrive just in time for dinner. They decided that there was too much yelling and trash talk going on so they opted to watch a video up in Marissa's room rather than suffer the abuse they knew would come.

Rick Downs getting a plate of corned beef and cabbage between games. Colin was in there somewhere but he spent a lot of his time fooling with his laptop so not sure he was showing his face too much after all the trash he talked prior to play...

Ahhhhhhhh... wise choice in beers to toast with, gentlemen. Tim House and Josh Todrin in mid game pause for the photographer feigning friendship and compassion. But 15 seconds later...

David Shaw and Rick Downs go at it again. I think David was saying something to the effect of "... and then I'm going to remove your heart after this next throw..." Ya, I think it went something like that...
