Happy Thanksgiving 11/25/04

Happy Thanksgiving! Despite being alone this Thanksgiving, I decided to go all out and fix Rock Cornish Game Hens the way my old friend James Haller from the Blue Strawberry restaurant in Portsmouth, NH did them. In fact, I used one of his recipies to fix stuffing from scratch and then got the makings to make a sauce from the leftovers to ladle over home made dumplings. To bolster my effort, I used a Michael Joseph 2002 Bordeaux - inexpensive but very nice.

It was an overcast, misty day with periods of light rain. Perfect! You wouldn't want Thanksgiving in New England to be any other way!

I got up early and watched the entire Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and then almost the entire Denver/Indianapolis football game. I started cooking around 3:30 and ended up eating around 7:30. Then I just watched a couple of movies and turned in. A great day and very much needed relxation!

Still in Thanksgiving celebration mode, Marissa, Rick Downs and Colin go at it again over the backgammon board Sat. the 27th. While we had pizza we continued to play and watched The American President. Then we finished the night off with The Rundown. It was quite a day!
