The Great 2006 Spring Into Spring Backgammon Tournament And Simple Spaghetti Blaze 04/22/06 |
It was time to welcome in Spring of 2006 and what better way than with a backgammon tournament and dinner fest! To keep it simple, I just had a generic spaghetti sauce for dinner and Rick Downs brought the garlic bread. And even as straight forward as that process was, I still missed playing quite a few games because of: stir the sauce, stir the noodles, heat the oven, etc. tasks.
There were just a few of us because I didn't get a note out soon enough for folks to make plans. Several were off at other family events or had other obligations. But the games that did get played were really good and annimated. I didn't even have much time to take pictures so there are only a few - but there has to be a record of these events even if it's only me there because, after all, it is one of "The Great" in a continuing series of get togethers.The movie of the night was King Kong - which was just spectacular. So well done that you forgot it was a movie with a really bad premise. But it was over 3 hours - which was amazing because we all just got so wrapped up in it that the time really flew.
Marissa getting ready for her game against David Shaw. She had a babysitting gig that ran until about 6:30 so she was ready to do battle. She must have been really fired up because she won that game with little fan-fair.

The chef doing chef stuff instead of throwing dice... No one seemed to miss me, though. Wonder why...
David and Rick didn't even stop their playing while they ate, that's how into it the folks that come to these parties get! Not real sure here whether Rick is complementing the chef or signaling his impending victory over David...
Just sitting around the table having dinner and continuing the games.
