Spring Yard Work Day 04/28/18

Saturday 04/28/18 was Spring yard work day. When Ethan and his girls - his 'crew' - arrived at 9:30, it was still a little brisk out. But it didn't take long for the sun to warm everything up.

Sue's nephew Derek arriving with the raised garden bed frames he had made for us as the 'crew' scatters.

The main thrust of the work was to clean out all of the leaves and grasses from the brook, and to fix the drainage pipe from getting clogged with leaves and sand.

While Ethan worked on the brook, Sue managed Bristol and Everly, "...AND hauled wheelbarrows full of heavy crap as Ethan raked it out of the brook..." while I did a major raking job of leaves and dead grass across the hill on the south side of the house.

Sue's nephew Derek arrived mid day with the garden bed frames he had built for us. Evey one threw down their gear as soon as they found out he had brought pizza for lunch with him!

By 3:30 pm we had all about had it. There was a quick pick up of gear, and then hunt for toys and other stuff the girls had scattered all over the place, and then they all headed off. Sue and I went in and cleaned up, grabbed glasses of wine, and headed for the chairs up the hill by the screen house.

What a difference with all of the leaves and dead vegetation gone from the sides of the brook!

Current Picture

Ethan built several small rock dams to not only trap leaves, but also to stem the force of the water so that not so much sand and gravel got washed down to the drainage pipe.

Entertaining Beau in the backyard.
