Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Vacation to Newport, RI 06/14/12 - Part 4: Saturday and Sunday

  1. Wednesday

  3. Friday
  4. Saturday and Sunday

06/17/11 Saturday
Saturday morning, we found a nice breakfast place just down the road from the hotel. Sue had to have her coffee before embarking on our first tour of the day: The Breakers. No matter how many times I've been through The Breakers, I am just awed by it. There are mansions, and then there is The Breakers....

From there, we drove over to Marble House. It was such a beautiful day that, after going through the house, we walked all around the grounds. And then we went for a relaxing drive along the coastal road up into the waterfront and harbor area of Newport. Along the way, we stopped briefly at Brenton Point State Park for the beautiful view of not only the ocean, but of a large sailboat heading into Newport Harbor and a group of folks touring on Skegways.

After a bite to eat, we toured The Elms and ended the day with an actual guided tour of Chepstow. Then, back to the hotel for some pool and reading time before going back into Newport for a wonderful meal at Mama Luisa Italian Restaurant.

06/18/11 Sunday
We sort of dragged our feet Sunday morning getting going, but breakfast and coffee called out to us. It was a long drive back home, but we quickly unpacked and then had the rest of the day to just relax. A wonderful trip and all of these nice pictures to remember it by.
